I had the opportunity on saturday to speak at an event that was completely organized by a few student. It was an outreach service on the campus of one of our local High School Campuses. I was really proud of all the hard work and dedication that these students put forth. Everything from organizing to securing the funds it was truly a sight to behold. It seems like to often we as Youth Pastors challenge our students to do things that we didn't. It's not an uncommon thing to hear those in the YP ranks to say something profound like..."you should rock your school for God". My question is did we? I don't mean to step on anyones toes but I think it's a fair question, one I think students are asking. So I can hear you now, "so do we never challenge them to do something great that we didn't?" and my simple answer...Challenge and lead them to fall deeper in love with Jesus, when they do that, then they will start doing things we didn't. This is exactly what had happened in the Overflow event this past Sat. You can't argue with proof. -pw
